Short Stories

Whenever I'm not too lazy I like to write short stories. Since I like foxes and other animals, my stories usually deal with them one way or another, most often in the form of anthropomorphized animals. See the wikipedia page for an explanation of Anthropomorphism. I hope you'll have as much fun reading them as I had in writing them!

  • The Color of Fur
  • A small community of gray foxes is living out its peaceful life in a village of tree huts. But one day, red foxes are sighted, and they're carrying chainsaws. Will life ever be the same again for the gray foxes?

  • Cinnamon's Story
  • Cinnamon has heard it over and over again: foxes are not meant to be adventurers. Instead, they must follow in their parents' trade and live a life in wealthy comfort. One day, Cinnamon just has enough. He embarks upon a journey to show that foxes can be just as good adventurers as any other race.

Microfiction

A short short story is a story with a maximum of 500 words. You can't really put a complex plot line in it, but they're great for a small, linear plots with a twist. Also, I found that it really teaches you how to use words sparingly and efficiently, so that you don't end up with overembellished language.

  • The Blood Test
  • This is a little story I came up with after I had a visit to my doctor. Doctor's visits will never be the same again.

Aesop Fable Translations

Back at grammar school I had lessons in Latin and ancient Greek. In an effort to find something to put my knowledge to use I decided to translate some of Aesop's fables, most notably those with foxes in it. Since it's rather intensive work, I never really finished it, and probably never will. Also, I have translated the stories very literally and since I've never continued studying ancient Greek, a mistake might've occurred here and there. Nevertheless, I hope you do enjoy the funny little stories.

The Aesopica offers a better collection of Aesop's work and its official translations. It's one of the most complete sites on Aesop on the web.
